Beginning Fall 2018, the Executive Leadership Team at Luther Seminary, consisting of the president, vice presidents, and key departmental leaders, will meet quarterly with the Diversity Inclusion and Equity Task Force to ensure this work remains a high institutional priority and provide accountability.

Mandatory Employee Training
In November, all employees will be required to complete an online modular training on managing bias. It will be followed by an evaluation survey.
Certificate Courses in Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity
In fall 2018, the Executive Leadership Team and Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Task Force will attend courses in Augsburg University’s Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program. The courses they’ll take are:
- Ally Training I
- All About Bias
- Disability as Diversity: Building Bridges to Full Inclusion
- Working Toward Inclusive Work Spaces Microinequities to Inclusion
Diversity Leadership Series: What Not to Do in DE & I Work
On September 14, 2018, members of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Task Force will attend a training by the Minnesota Council of Non-Profits entitled “What Not to Do in DE&I Work.”
Employee Talking Circles
Two talking circles for faculty and staff are planned for the summer.
August 22nd at 10 am – Noon: A discussion on racism led by a professional facilitator. Equity committee members Guillermo Hansen and Jaddie Edwards will interview 2-3 consultants to identify the best resource to partner with and facilitate this conversation.
Date TBD: A feedback session on the two previous employee trainings addressing white privilege and a diverse workforce. Breakout sessions will be held to further discuss the diversity, inclusion, and equity work that is planned over the coming months at Luther Seminary.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan
The Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Committee has been tasked with drafting an institution-wide DE&I Plan that will include goals, initiatives, and measurable outcomes, including expectations for the Board of Directors. More details about the plan will be shared as the work continues.
