Save the Date: Fretheim Lecture with Amy-Jill Levine (January 9)
Join us at 7 p.m. on January 9, 2024, for an evening with renowned New Testament scholar Amy-Jill Levine. Professor Levine will deliver Luther Seminary’s 2024 Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology, “The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector: Why Knowledge of Jewish History Matters for Christian Preaching and Teaching.” She will also offer a workshop for area clergy and seminary students from 3:30–5 p.m. before the lecture. Both events will be held in Olson Campus Center and are free and open to the public. The lecture will be livestreamed at youtube.com/lutherseminary.
***This event will be held on the Tuesday evening between winter RFS sessions. Students traveling to campus for just one of the RFS classes in January are invited to stay a day later or arrive a day earlier in order to attend this lecture!***
Trip Registration Open! CY 4566 Bonhoeffer as Youth Minister: June 21–28 Travel Course to Berlin
Are you interested in going to Berlin, Germany from June 21 – 28, 2024 for an immersive experience studying the life and ministry of Dietrich Bonhoeffer as Youth Minister with Dr. Andy Root?
So – what do you have to do to reserve your spot? You have to do 3 things.
1. Fill out this Bonhoeffer trip Google form.
2. Contact Crystal in the business office (busoffice@luthersem.edu) to make a plan for sending in your $100 non-refundable deposit. (Check, Credit Card, etc.. This is SO IMPORTANT!! No deposit? No spot reserved.)
3. Send in your $100 non-refundable deposit. (See number 2.)
And – how much time do you have to do this? Until the trip fills. We can take 20 students. Once the trip fills, we will start a wait list.
What is this trip going to cost me?
Short answer? Approximately $1,500 – $2,000
Longer Answer? All Luther students will receive an $1,800 scholarship to cover 6 nights in a hotel, 6 breakfasts, 2 group dinners, fees for all tours, museums, and the Bonhoeffer Haus.
Student out-of-pocket costs include a $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot, airfare, 4 dinners, all lunches, transportation to the hotel from the airport (train: $5- $10, Uber: $80 – $100).
